Contributing Author

Rori Zura is a breast cancer exercise specialist, lymphedema advocate, and the founder of Foobs & Fitness, where she helps breast cancer survivors move with greater confidence, rebuild their strength, and reclaim a sense of control over their bodies.

In 2020, at just 33 years old and during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rori was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Her treatment included chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy. Throughout it all, she made a purposeful decision: she would not simply wait for recovery to find her—she would actively move toward it.

After her mastectomy, Rori initially received the news she had prayed for: her lymph nodes appeared to be clear. One week later, however, her surgeon called to tell her that micrometastasis had been found. She would need another surgery, and her risk of developing lymphedema had increased.

Rather than waiting for complications to arise, Rori began asking questions about proactive lymphedema management. That experience opened her eyes to the need for greater education, preparation, and support for people navigating life during and after breast cancer—and it became the inspiration behind Foobs & Fitness.

Today, Rori draws from both her professional expertise and her personal experience to help others understand that movement is not about punishment or appearance. It can be a powerful part of healing, recovery, and reconnecting with a body that may feel unfamiliar after treatment.

Her work is rooted in three guiding principles: movement is medicine, you are the CEO of your body, and proactive care is more powerful than reactive care. Through education and exercise, she empowers survivors to ask informed questions, advocate for themselves, and build strength, mobility, and resilience before problems arise.

Rori knows this road personally. She understands the fear, uncertainty, and determination it can require because she has lived it herself. Through her contribution to Lifted, By My Girls!, she reminds women that they are not powerless—and that even the smallest intentional step forward can become part of their healing.
